The Rural Evidence Research Centre (RERC)

Welcome to the RERC website. We are a research centre in the Department of Geography, Environment and Development Studies at Birkbeck College University of London. The RERC was established by the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) to provide research to support the development of policy for the social and economic regeneration of rural England. We are now an independent, self-funding research centre. The research carried out for Defra can be found here.

Rural England and the General Election 2010

Up until the election the RERC will deliver a series of notes consisting of maps and graphics based on the rural_urban classification of Parliamentary Constituencies for England and Wales. The notes will illustrate various issues underlying policy for rural England. The third issue is concerned with overall population change and change in older voters i.e. persons over 60 years.
